Trevor Noah Reacts to Kanye West Being Pulled From Grammys

Kanye West’s Grammy performance has been canceled.

According to Variety, Ye was “barred” from performing at next month’s awards. A rep for the DONDA rapper said that Ye’s team received a phone call Friday night informing him he had been “unfortunately” removed from the lineup of performers due to his “concerning online behavior.”

Ye was never officially announced as a performer. However, he is nominated for five Grammys this year including Album of the Year, Best Rap Album, and Best Rap Song.

Taking to Instagram, Ye’s “Eazy” collaborator The Game blasted the Grammys for their decision, which he claims had to do with his controversial comments about Grammys host Trevor Noah. According to The Blast, there was concern about West and Noah’s interaction during the show.

Ye used a racial slur against Noah in a since-deleted Instagram post after the “Daily Show” host commented on his “harassment” of Kim Kardashian, resulting in a 24-hour suspension from Instagram.

“The Grammys have at the last minute decided to pull @kanyewest from performing on the show as if we didn’t know it was coming,” Game wrote. “Could be because @trevornoah is hosting and there was a conversation held amongst his team & the academy that led to the decision or because Ye’s account was suspended just days ago for reasons unknown especially in a world where all the negativities of the world can be found on the same app with no repercussions or suspensions.”

In response to the report, Noah seemingly denied that he wanted Ye yanked from the Grammy lineup and only wanted to see him get help.

“I said counsel Kanye not cancel Kanye,” he tweeted on Sunday morning.

Prior to this, Noah shared concern for Ye’s well-being. “You’re an indelible part of my life Ye. Which is why it breaks my heart to see you like this,” he wrote following Ye’s attack. “I don’t care if you support Trump and I don’t care if you roast Pete. I do however care when I see you on a path that’s dangerously close to peril and pain.”

Hosted by Noah, the 64th annual Grammy Awards are set to air April 3 from Las Vegas with performances from Lil Nas X, Jack Harlow, Billie Eilish, BTS, and more.
