Nick Cannon is mourning the death of his youngest child.
He shared the tragic news for the first time on his talk show, “The Nick Cannon Show,” telling the audience that his 5-month-old son, Zen Scott Cannon, passed away from brain cancer on Sunday (Dec. 5).
According to Nick, Zen started to develop what they thought was a sinus issue, and they noticed his head seemed large. Fluid started to build up in Zen’s head, and they discovered a malignant tumor, which required immediate surgery.
He was able to bring all his kids together before things took a turn around Thanksgiving, and the tumor began to grow quickly.
An emotional Nick recalled his final moments with his son this past weekend. “I holded my son for the last time…but it was a beautiful setting,” he said. “Even by the time I got in the car and was headed to the airport, I had to turn around.”
He added, “Not only did we get to see the sunrise, but we got to see the sunset too.”
Zen, whose mother is model Alyssa Scott, was born June 23 and was Nick’s seventh child. “Alyssa was the strongest women I’ve ever seen… She was always the best mom and continues to be the best mom,” said Nick, who also thanked the doctors at the hospital, Children’s Health Orange County.
“I have so much faith in the Lord, I have so much faith in God,” said Nick, who dedicated the show to his “beautiful son.” “I prayed for the miracle of God’s strength and that’s why I’m here with you guys today.”
Zen was Nick’s fourth child in a year. He and radio DJ Abby De La Rosa welcomed twin sons, Zion Mixolydian and Zillion Heir, in June. Back in December, Nick and model Brittany Bell welcomed their daughter, Powerful Queen.
Nick also shares a son, Golden, with Bell, and has 10-year-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe, with ex-wife Mariah Carey.
