Chlöe Bailey can’t escape the Beyoncé comparisons.
Since making her solo debut, the “Have Mercy” singer has faced comparisons to her mentor, whose label she is signed to. In her interview with “The Breakfast Club,” Chlöe reveals that she’s flattered by it all.
“I’m grateful. That’s the biggest compliment anyone could possibly give me,” she said. “I have so much more work to do to even get there, even get an ounce of where she is, so it’s a huge compliment for sure.”
She and Bey speak often and she is a constant source of encouragement. “I love her so much and we talk about any and everything and I’m just so grateful to have her stamp of approval,” she said. “And she always give me words of encouragement. You have no idea how much that means to me.”
When asked what Bey thinks of the comparisons, Chlöe said, “She said she’s really proud of me. That’s not something we specifically talk about, but I just love her and I’m happy she sees this light inside of me and my sister [Halle] as well.”
Another one of her idols is Kelis. “I love Kelis, one her tone of her voice and how like sexy and raunchy and bossy her lyrics are always and her vocal production. I think she’s so crazy talented. Any shoot I’m on and I just want to feel more confident, I just put her on.”
Chlöe was recently in the studio with Kelis’ longtime collaborators, The Neptunes. “I recently got to work with The Neptunes. I was like, ‘You guys have no idea how much you inspire me.’”
Chlöe plans to let fans into her world on her upcoming debut solo album. “People don’t know me completely, so everything will be a shock and surprise because they’re finally seeing the real me and the full me.”
