A song on DONDA may shed more light into Kanye West and Kim Kardashian’s marital woes.
The lyrics to “Hurricane” allude to Kanye being unfaithful during the couple’s nearly seven-year marriage.
On The Weeknd and Lil Baby-assisted song, Ye raps, “Here I go actin’ too rich / Here I go with a new chick / And I know what the truth is / Still playin’ after two kids / It’s a lot to digest when your life always movin’.”
According to Page Six, who cites “multiple sources,” Kanye cheated on Kim after she welcomed their first two kids, North and Saint.
However, the “new chick” is not Irina Shayk, who Kanye briefly dated after Kim filed for divorce in February.
“If you look closer to the lyrics, he is referring to his infidelity during his marriage with Kim, even after two kids,” the insider shared.
Elsewhere on “Hurricane,” Kanye raps about not going home to the couple’s Hidden Hills mansion and his struggles with alcohol.
“Architectural Digest, but I needed home improvement / Sixty-million-dollar home, never went home to it,” he raps. “Genius gone clueless, it’s a whole lot to risk / Alcohol anonymous, who’s the busiest loser?”
Despite reports of infidelity, the couple went on to have two more kids, Chicago and Psalm, before ending their marriage this year. West’s presidential run and Twitter tirades also took a toll on their relationship.
But they remain on good terms. Kim made a surprise appearance during Kanye’s DONDA experience at Chicago’s Soldier Field. She wore a white wedding dress while recreating the couple’s 2014 marriage amid reports that they are “working on rebuilding” their relationship.
DONDA is putting up big numbers in its first week. The album topped Apple Music’s Top Albums chart in 152 countries in 24 hours and is set to debut with the biggest sales week of 2021.
Kanye also dropped the first official video from DONDA for “Come to Life” featuring footage from his Chicago listening event, including the wedding scene.
