Written by on June 21, 2021

Polo G has the No. 1 album in the country.

The Chicago rapper debuts atop the Billboard 200 as Hall of Fame opens with 143,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S., 18,000 of which are comprised of album sales. This is the first No. 1 album for Polo, who previously hit the top 10 with The Goat (No. 2 in 2020) and Die a Legend (No. 6 in 2019).

The 20-track Hall of Fame features “Rapstar,” which spent two weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, plus appearances from Lil Wayne, Roddy Ricch, Pop Smoke, Young Thug, and Nicki Minaj, who congratulated her “For the Love of New York” collaborator.

“CONGRATULATIONS POLO!!” tweeted Nicki. “SOOOOOO FN HAPPY FOR YOU!! first #1 album. Chicago, stand TF UP!! Talented & humble. Stay on ya grind boo.”

Migos returns to the charts with Culture III, which starts at No. 2 with 130,500 equivalent album units (22,500 in album sales). The 19-track album–featuring Drake, Cardi B, and Justin Bieber–was originally released June 11, while a deluxe edition dropped June 17 with five bonus tracks. The previous installments, 2017’s Culture and 2018’s Culture II, both debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

Culture III and Hall of Fame have the second-and-third-biggest sales weeks (22,500 and 18,000) for hip-hop albums in 2021 behind J. Cole’s The Off-Season (37,000).

Elsewhere in the top 10, Moneybagg Yo’s A Gangsta’s Pain falls 6-9 with 34,000 equivalent album units, while J. Cole’s The Off-Season drops 4-10 with just under 34,000 units.
