Drake is celebrating The Weeknd on his birthday. The “Laugh Now Cry Later” rapper took to his Instagram story on Tuesday (Feb. 16) to wish more blessings to his fellow Canadian, who turns 31 today.
“More Life to the XO genna @theweeknd,” Drizzy wrote alongside a throwback black-and-white photo of him and Abel in the studio.
While they’ve had their issues in the past, the OVO-XO collaborators seem to be back on good terms. Earlier this month, Drake shared his support for Abel while watching his Super Bowl halftime performance.
“Big moment for the city!!!!” said Drake.
Prior to that, the 6 God slammed the Grammys after The Weeknd was shut out of the nominations. “The other day I said @theweeknd was a lock for either album or song of the year along with countless other reasonable assumptions and it just never goes that way,” he lamented.
Fans have been hoping for a new collaboration from the Toronto duo, who last shared the stage at 2017’s OVO Fest. In January 2019, it was rumored that The Weeknd was taking shots at Drake on Gesaffelstein’s “Lost in the Fire,” where he sang about hiding a child, a possible reference to Drake’s son Adonis.
Drake addressed their fallout on 2019’s “War” freestyle. “OVO XO link up,” raps Drizzy. “And the boy that sound like he sang on Thriller / You know that’s been my ni**a / We just had to fix things, family, 6 things, we can’t split up.”
